Parks Operations

The mission of the Parks Operations Division is:
1. Delivering clean, safe and modern park facilities
  2. Responding to very diverse park usage demands
3. Progressively addressing park development needs created by growth

The Parks Operations Division became part of the Public Works Department in July, 2009. This division is responsible for providing quality development and upkeep of the Town’s park system consisting of over 150 acres of parkland. Some of the basic functions of this division include: turf and arbor care, building and grounds maintenance, development, repair and beautification, as well as swimming pool operations and general facility maintenance.

The Parks Operations Division maintains four parks: Deming Pioneer Park, Green Valley Park, Mustang Park, & Rumsey Park.

Green Valley Lake

Deming Pioneer Plaza - dedicated in April 2004, this historic Main Street corner has been developed as a “history park” serving as an outdoor open-air museum. This Main Street corner depicts and showcases the Payson Pioneers that helped create this wonderful mountain community.

The 45-acre Green Valley Park has three lakes for fishing, a playground, an Ampitheatre for concerts or other events, picnic ramadas & is the site for a number of Rim Country Museums.

Mustang Park Rumsey Park

Mustang Park is a small quarter acre neighborhood “pocket park”. This park consists of a small picnic shelter, children’s playground equipment and a half court basketball goal.

Parks Operations maintains landscaping & drainage areas throughout the 80-acres of Rumsey Park's picnic ramadas, playgrounds, tennis courts, softball fields, soccer/football fields, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court, a swimming pool, a skate park, an Off-Leash Area (Dog Park) & the Payson Public Library.
