Payson Receives Prestigious Awards at Governor’s Rural Development Conference

The Annual Governor’s Rural Development Conference, which took place in Carefree, AZ from September 24 – 26, 2008 proved to be very successful for the Town of Payson.

Payson walked way with 2 of the 3 awards that it was designated as a finalist. The Town’s Office of Tourism and Economic Vitality won for “Best Promotional Material” for its 400 page tourism website that was launched back in March of 2008. You can visit the website at www.paysonrimcountry.com. Payson then stepped to the podium again and took its second prize of the day by winning “Best Special Event” honors for its First Friday Night on Main Street. Last but certainly not least Minette Richardson was nominated for Individual of the Year. Out of 15 Main Street Communities in Arizona, Minette was one of the final two selected for this honorable award. Her hard work and dedication to Main Street is a true asset to our community.

Many thanks are in order to all the merchants, volunteers and citizens of the Town of Payson who helped make these awards a reality.
