Hazardous Fuels Reduction Work Underway on the Payson Ranger District
Heads up, Rim Country! The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is actively working with the USDA Forest Service on a mastication project to reduce hazardous fuels on the Tonto National Forest. This effort is part of a long-term restoration plan to reduce wildfire risk and restore forest health around Payson, Oxbow Estates, Star Valley, and Round Valley.
What you should know:
✅ Crews began work Aug. 4 as part of the 14,388-acre Greater Payson Restoration project
✅ Work will continue over the next 5–6 years
