Jurisdiction

The jurisdiction of the Payson Police Department includes:

  • Town of Payson (approximately 25 square miles; 15,525 citizens)
  • Town of Star Valley (approximately 36 square miles; 1,603 citizens)

Divisions

Administration

Administrative duties for the Payson Police Department are coordinated through Krys Stevens. All inquiries relating to the Police Chief's schedule, financial issues, purchases, and billing, can be addressed by contacting Celena West at (928) 472-5057, or by e-mail at cwest@paysonaz.gov

Communications

Provides dispatch services for the Police Department, the Payson Fire Department's three fire stations, Hellsgate Fire Department, Water Wheel Fire Department, and Christopher Kohls Fire Department as well as fielding all 911 and public calls for assistance.

Investigation Division

The Investigation Division is responsible for follow up investigations of reported crimes and incidents that are usually generated through the initial reporting of a crime to a Uniformed Patrol Officer. Members of the Investigation Division are on a 24 hour, seven day call out status for response to major crimes, homicide, robbery, major burglaries, etc.

Patrol

The Patrol Division provides patrol services, responds to crimes in progress, traffic control, makes initial contact for reported crimes, participates in numerous multi-agency task forces, and K-9 operations.

Special Enforcement

The primary functions of the Special Enforcement Division is to investigate drug crimes and monitor potential threats on a national and local level. The SEO works with the County, State and Federal task forces to identify and arrest individuals who are involved in the manufacturing, sale and use of illicit narcotics.

Support Services

Provides non-patrol functions including records management, records requests, and property & evidence management. The Records personnel also assist with lobby traffic.
