Green Valley Park is a cooperative water reclamation project between the Northern Gila County Sanitary District and the Town of Payson. This award-winning park has been designed to recharge the town’s water table through passive percolation of treated effluent (about 325 acre/ft per year) leaking through the lake bottoms into the aquifer. The lakes also provide a means of distribution and storage of the reclaimed water for reuse customers throughout town and for irrigation of landscaping in the park. The reuse of reclaimed water helps both to conserve and preserve our potable water resources.
In addition to reusing and recharging high-quality reclaimed water into the aquifer, the park also serves as a focal point for community activities and park amenities. For more information regarding the “Crown Jewel of Payson” Green Valley Park go to the official Recreation & Tourism website.
